Interactive Multimedia Timeline: Exploring Christian theology and intellectual history
The 20th and 21st century: An online taster
Click here for a medium resolution version
This online experiment is here to give those interested in this project a glimpse of what is in development. This interactive, multimedia timeline features a visual presentation of intellectual history and Christian theology. On each page, covering a 10 or 20 year period, religious events and works are displayed at the bottom half of the page and cultural and philosophical milestones at the top half. In this way, you can clearly see the relationship between what is significant culturally and historically in a particular period, and how it relates to the religious thought of the time.
THE MULTIMEDIA DIMENSION
The illustrated timeline is just the outer skin of this project, because below the surface there will be a host of multimedia resources. If when moving your mouse across the page an item on the timeline is highlighted, you can click on it to reveal a feature page on that person or subject, with video footage by specialists on the topic.

Featured on this online taster are extracts from video's by • Anthony Thiselton on Paul Ricoeur • Richard Bauckham on Jurgen Moltmann and Eye witness testimony and the Gospels • Denis Alexander of the Faraday institute on Richard Dawkins • Revd Dr Rodney Holder on the Anthropic Principle • Ben Fulford on Hans Frei • Tim Hull on Panneberg • Karen Kilby on Balthasar, Rahner |

INTELLECTUAL AND RELIGIOUS MOVEMENTS AND THEMES As well as the multimedia resources, in the centre of each page there is a button that, when pressed, reveals in an instant the intellectual and religious movements and themes of the different periods. These also have the potential to reveal further resource material. |
