Mixed Mode Tutor

Andii is a tutor in practical theology and pathway leader for Mixed Mode training. “I am interested in the way that people learn and grow and get a real buzz out of people learning together and making connections.

Having been in full time ministry between 1986 and 2004, I have recently moved into education after a time out writing, life coaching and tutoring. Before that I was in full-time church-based ordained ministry in mostly urban contexts and then in chaplaincy in a higher education and further education institutions in West Yorkshire.

I really like looking at gospel and culture issues which I see as principally involving us in thinking about anthropology, sociology, doctrines of creation and fall. You can also get me interested in almost anything involving culture, linguistics, the arts, mission, post-modern spiritualities, spiritual direction, science, environment and justice issues and Islam -and just about anything that combines two or more of that list. It also seems to me that liturgy is important (understood broadly as the way that we organise worship together) and in particular how liturgy and culture do or don't interact. I have been looking into 'culture-jamming liturgy' and I'm also doing some thinking about a theology of language and have been putting together insights about human corporate being and principalities and powers.

You'll also find that a spirituality of the Lord's prayer is of great interest to me and I have a blog here to pick up things to develop that theme. Suffice to say that I view praying as involving a dialogue with God and, given that we are embodied beings whose innermostness is open to God, that dialogue is of life and action as well as words and thoughts..

I'm interested in the arts and go wandering around galleries. I even have a go myself from time to time; acting, painting and some design work.”
